Why I love Archetypes (and why you should to)

Archetypes are FUN.

They are also a very powerful way to connect to yourself and to tap into strengths, skills and wisdom that are not routinely accessed in your everyday life.

If you were to Google archetypes you would find a lot of different types, ways to connect with them and also ways to use them. This blog post is to share with you how I connect with them and then also to talk about 2 ways that you can connect with Archetypes right now.

One of the major reasons I enjoy working with archetypes is that we are often only accessing a very limited set of thoughts, feeling and beliefs when making decisions. This is our default mode and is very comfortable to us.

The thing is though - if you are wanting to change, grow and expand - comfortable isn’t going to cut it.

Learning to call upon Archetypes can very quickly allow you to access different perspectives on a situation. This is one of my favourite ways to connect with with them and it is a very intuitive process.

I start by getting grounded and setting the intention that I am seeking answers from within. Sometimes a particular archetype will name and reveal itself or if I am aware where my gap lies within this area I might consciously call upon an archetype.

For example: If I am noticing rigid and constrictive thinking I might ask to speak to or hear from a nurturing or intuitive archetype like a Mother, Priestess or even simply a Guide.

Within us all lies an infinite number of guides, aspects or archetypes (don’t get too hung up on the name). Now here are 2 ways for you to begin connecting with your archetypes and learning more about them and the wisdom they can provide.

1. Discover your own.

If you enjoy the idea of discovering your own archetypes and following your intuition then allow this to be an intuitive adventure.

Just like I described above: get grounded and set your intention to commune with an archetype within you. There is no right or wrong way to do this and you might find that a different process works for you.

You also might like to try:

  • Dressing like the archetype.

  • Listening to music or sounds that represent the archetype.

  • Writing a letter to them (and then writing one in return).

2. Follow a Guided Journey

As I mentioned before there are many teachers out there (paid and free) that will help you connect to a predetermined set of archetypes. If you prefer this level of support and guidance I’d recommend doing a Google search or you can purchase my 7 Part Archetype Masterclass Series.
