Set goals like this instead

Here is one reason you should NOT have a big, wildly important vision or goal.

Now, you are probably thinking…what? Nikki you're a coach and you literally help people to set goals, gain clarity of their visions and create the life and business of their dreams!

Yes that is true.

What this blog is really about is the language we use to talk about our future and how that can be setting you up for discomfort and disappointment.

If you talk about your future as something big, scary, massive and huge - what you're actually doing is creating a lot of distance and disconnection between you and what you want. And what you really need to do is shorten that gap.

Setting yourself up as someone not worthy of your goal (too small, too broke, too naive, too young, to whatever…) then it stays separate from you and it seems harder to reach. In fact, you're kind of telling yourself and everyone else that this thing is so difficult it's going to take you a long time and you may not even be capable of it!

I think you can start to see how that's getting in your way, right?

If this is resonating and if you're like, “Hey yeah that sounds like me…” Then I’ve got you.

1. Start to reframe your language when you talk about your goals.

They aren’t big, distant and far off into the future rather they are something close, totally possible and if anything…just around the corner.

2. Shorten the gap.

Perhaps instead of saying my big, scarily bold vision of the future that I think I may possibly get if I’m lucky…you can just say I'm working towards having this and I'm so excited for when this happens. It is an inevitable outcome that could happen any day now!

How good would that feel if you're talking about something you're working towards and saying it could happen any day now? Cause not only could it happen any day now, but it is so much more easy and it brings you so much closer emotionally to what you desire.

You’re invited to do this when you're talking, or thinking, about your future.

Check out all the big distancing scary words and maybe include on to the end a nice neat little and ‘it could happen any day now’ because it could.

Share with me what has sparked within you - how will you begin to reframe your language of the future?

And if you know that this conservation needs to go further so that you can go further too, book a free call where we can connect and chat about your particular dreams and goals and let’s make some magic.
